Sunday Reset Practices for a Productive Week

Sundays, in my opinion, are hands down the best day of the week. Lionel Richie didn’t sing “Easy Like Sunday Morning” for nothing, did he? A lot of people may not feel easy about another week of work quickly approaching, though. You might’ve experienced the “Sunday scaries” a time or two, worrying about the week ahead and feeling the weight of the inevitable 6 am alarm come Monday. It’s so hard to turn your brain off from thinking about your never-ending to-do list, that big meeting with your boss, or just another week with no time to relax. I get it. A well-executed Sunday reset really can set the tone for a productive, fulfilling, and balanced week ahead. Here are some tried-and-true practices that I implement to help set me up for success for the rest of the week. I hope they are helpful to you, too 💗

  1. Reflect and review 👀

Take some time to reflect on the past week. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and acknowledge any challenges you may have faced. Reflecting on your experiences can provide valuable insights into what worked well and what didn't, helping you refine your approach for the week ahead. Keep a journal to jot down your thoughts and plans for the next few days. Sometimes putting pen to paper really helps empty your brain!

  2. Plan and prioritize 📆

Once you've reflected on the past week, it's time to look ahead. Set aside some time to plan out your upcoming week. Identify your key priorities, both personal and professional, and allocate time for them in your schedule. Breaking down your goals into manageable tasks can make them feel less overwhelming and increase your chances of success. (Hint: get a planner!!) Here’s my favorite one from Amazon, or use Google Calendar to get organized!

  3. Unplug and recharge ☀️

  4. In today's world, we are allllll on our phones way too much. It’s easy to want to spend your Sunday glued to your screen, catching up on work emails, or scrolling through social media. However, it's essential to carve out some time to unplug and recharge. Spend time outside. Seriously, we need the sun to energize us. Take some time for a new hobby, read, make plans with a friend, etc. Disconnecting from technology allows your mind to rest and rejuvenate, setting you up for a more focused and productive week ahead.

  5. Nourish your body

A healthy Sunday reset isn't just about nourishing your mind; it's also about nourishing your body. Take the time to prepare some healthy meals and snacks for the week ahead. Meal prepping can save soooo much time and energy during the busy weekdays and help you be prepared with healthy options readily available. Also, prioritize some physical activity that you can do during the week. When work is over, let it be over! You deserve time every afternoon to have a good meal and move your body. It will thank you- trust me!

  6. Set your intentions

As you wrap up your Sunday reset, take a moment to set some intentions for the week ahead. What do you hope to accomplish? How do you want to show up in the world? Setting intentions can help you stay focused and aligned with your goals, guiding your actions and decisions throughout the week. It’s all about intentionality, baby. You can’t just leave these things to happenstance, you have to plan for them. Your future self will thank you. Before long, I bet Sunday’s will be your favorite day of the week, too ☺️
