Why You Should Be Transparent About Your Pricing

There’s a lot of controversy around whether you should list your pricing on your website. I want to preface this post with: it depends. Depending on the service or product you’re offering, it may be best to have a client contact you first. However, for MOST service providers, it will only benefit you to share your pricing with your audience. Let’s dive into WHY.

1. It builds trust ❤️

I get it. Being open about pricing for your services or offerings is soooo vulnerable. I know you’re tempted to leave out this information so you can build that connection with someone first and then maybe the price won’t matter for them. Wrong. It absolutely matters and you’re much better off just putting your pricing out there and letting the customer decide for themselves whether what you’re offering is worth investing in. You don’t see Target hiding prices on the shelves, do you? Transparency builds trust with your customers. When they know exactly what they're paying for upfront, they are more likely to trust your brand and feel comfortable making a purchase.

2. It saves time ⏰

Clearly displaying pricing information saves time for both you and your potential customers. It reduces the need for back-and-forth communication to inquire about pricing, allowing you to focus on more productive tasks. I hate to say it this way, but, why waste your time with someone whose budget is nowhere near what your offerings cost? If they’re intimidated by the price it doesn’t mean that they’ll never buy into what you’re offering but you HAVE to build value and make them understand what they’re missing if they don’t choose you.

3. It attracts qualified leads 😍

Transparent pricing attracts qualified leads who are more likely to convert into paying customers. Customers who are serious about purchasing will appreciate the straightforward approach and are more likely to purchase from your business. And even if they don’t, maybe they’ll happily support and promote your business from different angles like joining your newsletter, sharing your social media posts, or sending your information to someone else who may benefit from your services.

4. It demonstrates confidence 💁🏼‍♀️

Transparency sets you apart from competitors who may not be as honest and forthcoming about their pricing. It demonstrates confidence in your product or service and can give you an edge in the market. You want to show up confident in what you’re offering. Your potential customers want to know YOU believe in it and, in return, they will too.

5. It gives you credibility ⭐️

Transparent pricing totally enhances your credibility as a business. It shows that you have nothing to hide and are committed to fair and honest practices within your company. People love a no-BS approach to buying. No wondering about pricing or what you’ve got to hide. Take a look at all of the successful businesses you know of- what do they do? I guarantee they show their pricing openly and are PROUD of it. You should be, too!

Check out my services page to see examples of open and honest pricing. I’m always happy to work with clients who are clear about their needs and transparent with their current budget. You should never be ashamed of your pricing or ever feel like you’re going to miss out on clients. You’re worth what you charge, friend! 🙂
